A Tribute to His Dedication & the Poultry Legacy

In the annals of the Heritage Poultry Conservancy's history, a tapestry woven with the dedication of countless volunteers tells a story of shared purpose and tireless commitment to our modest yet profound non-profit endeavor. Amid these steadfast contributors, Russ Crevosierat stands as a luminary—an embodiment of expertise and unwavering devotion to the realm of poultry. Today, our hearts are heavy as we convey the somber news that Russ has departed from us, leaving a void that will cast its shadow over Moss Mountain Farm and the expanse of the Heritage Poultry Conservancy (HPC).

Russ's legacy is deeply intertwined with the Conservancy's growth, a testament to his role as an effective board member. His mastery of accounting, showmanship, and the intricate art of poultry husbandry formed a cornerstone of HPC's accomplishments. Notably, his presence was a guiding light at our events, where his counsel and mentorship nurtured fledgling poultry enthusiasts, 4-H members taking their first steps, and seasoned breeders alike. His benevolence and gentle guidance left an indelible mark on all who crossed his path.

A paragon of boundless support, Russ undertook tasks of all calibers with a spirit undaunted by the unglamorous. Transporting birds, administering medications, nourishing flocks, meticulously tagging and grading birds—his contributions were steadfast and unwavering. With a foundation forged during his time in the US Army, he infused his efforts with discipline and method, while his career as an accountant infused fiscal prudence into every facet of his work. His fiduciary commitment to the organizations he served was unassailable.

Russ's remarkable ability to unearth and recognize valuable breeding stock from the most unexpected and arcane sources infused HPC's flocks with genetic diversity that sustained their vitality over time. This gift, sourced from the seemingly obscure, yielded lasting significance.

Visitors to Moss Mountain Farm were privileged to have Russ as a guide through the vibrant tapestry of breeds inhabiting Poultryville. His deep reservoir of knowledge and infectious enthusiasm for our conservation endeavors captivated and astonished all who were fortunate enough to share in the experience.
